    Responsibilities

    JOB SUMMARY

    This position is responsible for providing transportation for clients, making pickups and deliveries of materials, supplies, and equipment and ensuring vehicle is in good operating condition.

     

    This position is responsible for delivery of quality service, promoting good public relations, and for upholding the mission and standards of the facility.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    1. Demonstrates commitment to Tabitha’s Crew Code of Conduct.

    2. Drives the Tabitha van to transport residents.          

    3. Assists Residents into and out of van and buildings, securing residents’ wheelchairs and walkers in van to stabilize them during trips.

    4. Makes deliveries, deposits and pickups as assigned.

    5. Coordinates with the communications operator in following established van schedule.

    6. Monitors the schedule and need and/or performs routine cleaning and maintenance of van.

    7. Maintains a positive outlook toward employer and work responsibilities.

    8. Dresses and conducts self in an appropriate manner according to established procedures.

    9. Maintains knowledge of and adheres to established organizational and departmental policies and procedures.

    10. Adapts to a changing work load and work environment.

    11. Represents Tabitha and the department in a positive manner by demonstrating knowledge and support of policies and procedures.

    12. Participates in organizational and departmental goals and performance improvement activities.

    13. Organizes and prioritizes work to complete responsibilities according to plan within established time frames.

    14. Follows all established safety and infection control policies and procedures.

    15. Maintains knowledge of and adheres to emergency procedures during drills and actual emergencies, e.g. fire, tornado, bomb threat and evacuation.

    16. Assures delivery of optimum service by following assigned work schedule.

    17. Participates in personal and professional growth by attending in-services/educational workshops and scheduled department meetings.

    18. Performs other duties or special projects as assigned by supervisor.

    Qualifications

    LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION

    Valid Nebraska Driver's license, state required minimum automobile insurance coverage and good driving record required.

    Current Healthcare Provider or BLS CPR/AED certification required.

     

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

    Experience in driving vans or delivery vehicle preferred.

    Experience in working with elderly/handicapped preferred.

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    A friendly and cordial attitude and patience in working with the elderly and impaired is necessary.  Defensive driving skills are a requirement.

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Out of doors in all types of conditions.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB

    This position requires physical stamina to assist residents in and out of van as well as lifting wheelchairs/walkers into van.  May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.

     

    EQUIPMENT OPERATION

    Continuous use of: van, pager, 2-way radio

    Frequent use of: copier

    Occasional use of: telephone
