Network Infrastructure & Security Administrator is responsible for Cisco based enterprise-wide network, including LAN/WAN, Wireless LAN, Remote Access, Data Center network load balancing and Quality of Service, Voice communication systems. This position manages the global configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of LAN/WAN/WLAN/VoIP environments, VPN/Remote Access and Network Security Infrastructure. Role includes administration, Level 3 support, reporting, and documentation for these environments. As part of the IT Operations Team, this individual will work closely with the business units and project teams to ensure data / voice network and computer resources are both properly functioning and are protected from internal and external unauthorized access. This position will assist with project tasks or lifecycle implementation, cost analysis and vendors comparisons. This position will exercise these responsibilities in compliance with policies and standards along with industry best practices.


This position must be customer-service oriented and proactive in anticipating and resolving problems while maximizing efficient use of computing resources. Successfully fulfilling this role is vitally important to Tabitha’s employees, who have a diverse skill set, but a common goal of providing optimum care to Tabitha’s elders/residents/clients (hereinafter, “elders/clients”). Prompt and effective response to the organization’s needs is a key factor in Tabitha’s ability to operate efficiently.   • Administer, support and maintain the LAN, WAN, and Firewall infrastructure including internal / external facing systems / services, and provide expert level technical assistance to team members in support of customer needs.
    • Performs installations, upgrades or patching, and maintenance of the global LAN / WAN and Wireless / Access Point infrastructure.
    • Ensures that existing networks maximize availability, reliability and ensure service interruptions are minimal, managed, and controlled.
    • Conducts ongoing assessments, collecting and analyzing network statistics, to ensure the network and telecommunication systems are optimized.
    • Ensures that all system implementations are in full accordance with the change management and approved control procedures / standards.
    • Participate in security incident response, security vulnerability identification and resolution, and IT compliance related issues.
  • Assists with identifying, isolating and resolving network problems to minimize impact to the business and effectively working with Global IT Associates.
    • Provides Level 3 support of the LAN, WAN, WLAN and voice network(s) of complex infrastructure from campus LAN switching to Core / Distribution routing architecture.
    • Analyze and troubleshoot network issues to resolve outages or interruptions in a timely manner and minimize impact to the company and its respective business units.
    • Provide senior technical hardware and software support for IP based network and load balancing services including Proxies and NAT (Network Address Translation).
    • Conducts immediate root-cause analysis by identifying source for Internet or network connectivity issues, and delivering solutions that minimize future symptoms or related problems.
    • Administer converged and secure networks to ensures network performance, capacity, scalability and resiliency aligns with IT and business requirements.
    • Participates in global on-call rotation as required.
  • Assists and identifies avenues for continuous improvement for services within scope of responsibilities including new approaches, processes and toolsets that would contribute to improvements within department and to business growth and efficiencies.
    • Remains current with emerging industry standards, including obtaining and/or maintaining required certifications.
    • Envisions and introduces new capabilities to meet business standards.
    • Maintaining in-depth working knowledge of business and technology.
    • Contribute to the planning of short and long term network capacity and disaster recovery requirements.
    • Establish and maintain network monitoring systems and processes in order to alert on resource availability, system / network utilization, and threats to the global network infrastructure.
    • Configure, collect and publish network service level metrics and reports.
  • Effectively partners with other IT Groups to deliver optimal IT support and services.
    • Ensures all device and systems connected or supported comply with the organization’s Cybersecurity standards and policies or best practices.
    • Collaborates with team members on various technology initiatives and establishes customer trust and confidence.
  • Has ability to establish and work within a consistent engineering framework according to organization’s standards where available, creating, gaining approval, and distributing standards from scratch as required:
    • Has ability to establish and work within a consistent documentation framework.
    • Participates in ‘Build’ to ‘Run’ transitions or turnovers throughout project lifecycle.
    • Contributes to maintaining team process documentation and updates to network topology.
    • Ensures availability of adequate user and system documentation that cover system specifications, operational guides, and recovery plans.
  • Thorough knowledge in the following systems:
    • Endpoint Security & antimalware
    • Threat Intelligence IDS, IPS -
    • Vulnerability Assessment Tools
    • Network, Systems and Database Security
    • Sourcefire, Wireshark, SolarWinds
  • Knowledge of HIPPA compliancy in IT
    • Follow compliance efforts and maintain standards as it relates SOX /HIPPA
    • Maintain compliance standards on a regular basis and update policies, procedures and controls as appropriate for discussion with managemen
  • Fosters and maintains an effective working relationship with coworkers, employees, managers, vendors, and others who contribute to the success of Tabitha.

  • Acts as a representative of Tabitha by being professional at all times. Identifies problems/needs, develops solutions, and implements resolutions to assist in providing outstanding service to each employee and department at Tabitha. Maintains courteous relationships with members of management, leaders, peers, members of other departments and volunteers. Provides leadership, support and assistance as needed to assure achievement of departmental and corporate goals. Volunteers to assist others and seeks opportunities to serve Tabitha.

  • Ability to prioritize work load to assure that all essential functions are addressed effectively, while making adjustments to meet changing and/or competing priorities when necessary. Uses flexibility and stamina to carry out all essential functions safely and effectively.

  • Assures reports of all broken and malfunctioning equipment are made in a timely manner. Assures that all direct reports do so as well.

  • Complies with HIPAA regulations regarding privacy by insuring that Protected Health Information (PHI) is safeguarded at all times. In addition, maintains a high level of confidentiality regarding any matter pertaining to any Tabitha elders/clients, Tabitha employees and employee records or Tabitha business affairs that become known to the employee during the course of his/her work. Assures that all direct reports do so as well.

  • Makes good decisions that contribute to the well-being of the Information Services department, the success of Tabitha employees, and the achievement of Tabitha objectives.

  • Completes required training and in-services promptly. Demonstrates understanding of the course content and implements training in daily activities. Assures that all direct reports do so as well.

  • Is a role model for staff by maintaining exemplary record of attendance and punctuality as defined by Tabitha’s policy pertaining to attendance and punctuality. Records all time worked accurately and consistently using the timekeeping method provided by Tabitha. Assures that all direct reports meet Tabitha standards in this area as well.

  • Complies with policies and procedures as published by Tabitha, which may be modified at Tabitha’s discretion. Contributes to quality assurance and performance improvement activities by identifying instances of non-compliance and taking appropriate action, including reporting violations of Tabitha policy or regulations as appropriate. Assures that all direct reports do so as well.

  • Responds appropriately to emergencies and implements appropriate safety and disaster measures for the protection of elders/clients, visitors and staff. Follows disaster plans during participation in preparedness drills and actual emergencies. Uses strength, agility, and good body mechanics consistently. Implements and follows appropriate safety and infection control policies and procedures of Tabitha and/or community and regulatory agencies. Assures that all direct reports do so as well.  

  • Acts with integrity and in the best interest of Tabitha. Business relationships are conducted in the best interest of Tabitha, free of gifts, cash inducements, gratuities, favors, or other perceived improper inducements.

COMMUNICATION: Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the English language as well as terminology and jargon specific to the job. Understands written and verbal instructions. Sufficient fluency to be able to train coworkers/employees, explain complex problems to vendors, hold a conversation, conduct or participate in meetings, compose professional e-mails or other written communication, complete documentation requirements of the job and interact with management, vendors, state officials, employees, peer coworkers, customers, volunteers and managers effectively. WORKSITE CONDITIONS: Works in a standard office setting in a facility maintained by Tabitha that will typically be in good repair, clean, well ventilated and well lit. May be exposed to electrical shock when plugging and unplugging equipment or bumps, cuts and scrapes when installing or repairing equipment. May have daily and/or hourly deadlines requiring periods of intense activity with possible interruptions and changes in priorities. May occasionally work with managers and employees involving difficult issues that may become stressful. May be required to work beyond normal scheduled hours and on weekends and holidays to meet deadlines. Potentially subjected to extended hours or callback during emergency conditions based upon needs of the organization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to gain access to the work area and safely perform the duties of the job while utilizing standard and specialized equipment, including but not limited to the equipment described below. Must be able to move about the work area and sit at a computer for hours at a time. Periods of physical activity, including movement of equipment and furniture to facilitate the installation, repair or replacement of equipment are possible. Vision and hearing within normal limits (with or without correction). Ability to lift 25 pounds, bend, stoop, reach, twist, push, pull, kneel, squat, climb, pinch and use other motions to install, repair or replace equipment.

EQUIPMENT USAGE: Standard and specialized equipment including servers, wire closet equipment, laptop, PC, tablet, photocopier, scanner, fax machine, elevator, projector, telephone, cell phone, and television.

AGE REQUIREMENT: At least age 18.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science preferred, or equivalent experience


  • 5+ years in a multi-site 100+ user environment is required
  • 5+ years hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies and protocols
  • 5+ years hands-on experience in LAN / WAN design and administration with a Bachelor’s degree, or 11 years of experience with a High School diploma
  • Strong knowledge of advanced IP routing and switching technologies, in particular EIGRP and BGP, or OSPF
  • Strong working knowledge of WAN technology MPLS and VPNs
  • Working knowledge of VOIP technologies and QoS (Quality of Service)
  • Working knowledge of Remote Access solutions (Cisco ASA & VPN Clients)
  • Working knowledge of cloud services and VMware virtualized infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of network security, access management, data protection and integrated security and network encryption.
  • Familiarity switching technology including SIP Trunking, (HA) High Availability, Content Filtering, as well as NAC (Network Access Control)

  • Strong analytical skills to resolve network and hardware related issues
  • Strong working knowledge of network analytical tools and monitoring utilities including network sniffers or packet capture technology

  • Flexibility in work schedule, off-hours for troubleshooting or implementation and 24 by 7 on-call support as required

CREDENTIALS: CCNA certification or equivalent professional certification preferred. Driver’s license and Auto Insurance at least equal to the Nebraska Statutory minimums required. Some same day travel may be required in the central or southeastern part of Nebraska.
