Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for supervising meal service and sanitation of the food service department. Responsible for data entry for the Surequest computer system and meal tickets distribution.  The position shares responsibility with the Production Supervisor position for food production, cooks supervision and menu writing. This position is responsible for delivery of quality service, promoting good public relations, and for upholding the mission and standards of the facility. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1.  Demonstrates commitment to Tabitha’s Crew Code of conduct.
  2. Performs tasks necessary to enable efficient production and service.
  3. Participates as a team member to ensure the department goals are met.
  4. Follows policies and procedures of department.
  5. Performs tasks according to established time measures and standards.
  6. Supervises staff serving meals in dining rooms  and sanitation employees.
  7. Follows all safety and infection control policies and practices of the facility.
  8. Works assigned schedule with dependability.
  9. Attends department meetings and in-services.
  10. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by the supervisor.
  11. Responsible for training of staff and ensuring proper training of staff.
  12. Demonstrates the ability to listen to staff concerns and take appropriate action.
  13. Communicates expectations in a clear and positive manner.
  14. Focuses on correction rather than punishment when addressing performance issues.
  15. Builds mutual trust of staff through respect and integrity.
  16. Demonstrates consistency in the treatment of staff.
  17. Nurtures and supports new staff in a manner that ensures a successful introductory period.
  18. Identifies on-going training needs and ensures adequate training of staff.
  19. Investigates concerns thoroughly before taking action.
  20. Controls preventable staff turnover related to supervisory responsibilities.
  21. Responsible for timely and accurate food service delivery to all food service programs, ie Meals on Wheels, Intergenerational Center, Catering, Green House and Cafeteria.
  22. Communicates and assist the Assistant Food Service Director with patient services, ie, Weight reports, patient intakes and interviews.

Qualifications

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

None required

 

EDUCATION/TRAINING, AND WORK EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Associate degree in Food Service Management preferred.

Two years of experience in institutional food service required.

Dietary Tech Registry preferred.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to get along with people required.
  • Ability to comply with attendance policy required.

  • Must have the ability to operate commercial food service equipment and have knowledge of professional food service standards.
  • Ability to read and write legibly in English language.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Exposed to extreme heat and cold.  Must be knowledgeable of, and follow, all safety and infection control procedures for position to prevent injury to self and others.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB

Must withstand the pressure and strain of working in close quarters during busy periods, standing for hours at a time. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

 

EQUIPMENT OPERATION

Continuous use of: computer, telephone

Occasional use of: copier/fax, calculator, dish machine, kitchen production equipment
