Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for cooking and serving client meals, setting up dining rooms, and performing dishwashing and equipment cleaning after each meal service.   The server will be responsible for ordering supplies needed for their work area and tallying menus. This position is responsible for delivery of quality service, promoting good public relations, and for upholding the mission and standards of the facility. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Demonstrates commitment to Tabitha’s Crew Code of conduct.
  2. Responsible to prepare, portion and serve food to the clients of the Assisted Living Facility (ALF), while maintaining the quality control standards. Set up and serves in dining areas, performs dish washing and equipment cleaning responsibilities.  Ensures all food is attractively plated and garnished.
  3. Responsible to order and stock supplies in galley and nourishment area.
  4. Responsible for cleaning and sanitation of galley using appropriate cleaning products.
  5. Ensures that all food is served at the safe temperatures.
  6. Participates as a team member to ensure the department goals are met.
  7. Follows policies and procedures of department.
  8. Performs tasks according to established time measurers and standards.
  9. Follows all safety and infection control policies and practices of the facility.
  10. Works assigned schedule with dependability.
  11. Attends department meetings and completes in-services on Care 2 Learn.
  12. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by the supervisor.

 

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assists in orienting and training new employees.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to give and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English
  • Ability to get along with people and willingness to help others in a cooperative manner
  • Ability to operate commercial food service equipment
  • Ability and willingness to comply with Tabitha attendance policy and all other Tabitha and departmental policies and procedures
  • Ability to demonstrate responsibility for the scope of the position-meeting customer needs, safety, proper knowledge in food safety, and infection control.
  • Able to use critical thinking skills to solve small problems and refer larger issues to the lead person of the ALF or Food Service Director.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires job hour flexibility.  Indoor working environment with varying temperature and humidity according to the season of the year.  Must be able to use chemical cleaning supplies.  Exposure to extreme heat and cold, and chemicals that may be hazardous.  Must  be knowledgeable of, and follow all safety and infection control procedures for position in order to prevent injury to self and other.  Chemicals may cause skin, eye or lung irritation if proper procedures are not followed.

 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

Food Handler Permit- Lancaster County Health Department

 

EDUCATION/TRAINING, AND WORK EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience with quantity food production preferred.

Restaurant experience preferred.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB

Must withstand the pressure and strain of working in close quarters during busy periods, standing for hours at a time as well as walking, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending.  Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

 

EQUIPMENT OPERATION

Continuous use of: dishwasher, garbage disposal, coffee urn, juice machine.

Frequent use of: turbo oven & stove (or induction range), toaster, can opener, microwave, knives, plate warmer, refrigerators, steam table.
