The Director of Annual Giving and Communications will be the Foundation’s driving force behind executing and managing a modern and effective annual giving and engagement program. This includes overseeing annual giving, leadership giving, grateful patient and family programming, employee giving, donor engagement, and communications. The primary goal is to expand the Foundation’s donor base and establish it as the preferred choice for philanthropy.

1. Oversee a comprehensive annual giving program and philanthropic digital engagement strategies for the Foundation.
2. Collaborate across the organization to identify targets and manage campaigns that maximize gifts through digital, print, social media, and personal outreach.
3. Develop and implement strategic plans to acquire new donors, renew existing ones, and reactivate lapsed donors, thereby expanding the donor base and building a pipeline of major gift prospects.
4. Establish and monitor annual giving and engagement goals, priorities, and metrics to meet growth expectations.
5. Evaluate progress toward goals regularly by measuring results against projections.
6. Manage a personal portfolio of major gift prospects and donors with the capacity to make significant philanthropic investments.
7. Utilize best practices to ensure that print and digital communications to grateful families, donors, and prospects are strategically timed to maximize engagement and prompt action. Research and suggest innovative products and delivery methods, uncover compelling stories and visuals, and advance strategic fundraising goals.
8. Define and execute year-round strategies for employee engagement, giving, and stewardship, fostering a culture of giving within the organization.
9. Utilize data to develop and lead a robust Leadership Annual Giving program that bridges the gap between annual giving and major giving, fostering a healthy and sustainable donor pipeline.
10. Design and launch a monthly giving program to strengthen donor engagement and increase contributions among annual and mid-level donors.
11. Develop, regularly evaluate, and ensure execution of plans and budgets for engagement and communications annually.
12. Research, propose, manage, and craft regular and special communications for donors, prospects, and grateful families, delivering clear and compelling messages about the opportunities for and impact of philanthropic support.
13. Monitor, supervise, coach, and develop direct reports.
14. Assist with the recruitment, job performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and change forms for direct reports.

COMMUNICATION: Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the English language as well as terminology and jargon specific to the job.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to gain access to the work area and then safely perform the duties of the job. Vision and hearing within normal limits (with or without correction). Must be capable of sitting for long periods of time (up to 8 hours) throughout the work day and have the ability of kneeling, crouching, twisting, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 10 pounds. 

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. 

EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years’ experience in fundraising, annual giving, donor engagement, communications, and project management preferred. Experience in senior living and long-term care preferred. Demonstrated ability to create a program vision and strategic plan that incorporates a comprehensive and diverse range of giving programs; independently initiate and execute program goals and measure results; lead, supervise, and motivate staff and volunteers.
