Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for completion of all MDS’s utilizing existing documentation and through client and staff review in a timely manner. This position is responsible for delivery of quality service, sufficient and thorough data colleting, promoting good public relations, and for upholding the mission and standards of the facility.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Participates and provides training to staff on MDS Process and Documentation needs, on a scheduled and routine basis, working w/ the education department.
  2. Knowledge of and accuracy in completing the RAI process, utilizing existing documentation, client assessment, staff interview, and following guidelines of the RAI manual.
  3. Provides follow-up training on ADL’s-computer charting for RA’s and MDS’s with Guidance from Education and RN Supervisor.
  4. Monitor ADL reports, on a scheduled basis and complete any sig. change MDS when appropriate.
  5. Assist with MDS/Care Plan scheduling, along with discharge and re-entry assessments when needed
  6. Develops and maintains positive customer service with intra-departmental personnel as well as other departments within the organization.
  7. Demonstrates knowledge and adheres to established department policies and procedures.
  8. Attends mandatory and non-mandatory inservices, staff meetings, and training sessions as required by Tabitha policies and procedures and assists in providing opportunities for other team members to attend.
  9. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

Nebraska license, Registered Nurse.

 

EDUCATION/TRAINING, AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing approved by the State of Nebraska, as a Registered Nurse.  Must have at least 5 years MDS Experience.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must be familiar of the RAI manual and the MDS process.
  • Must have at least 5 years MDS experience.
  • Knowledge of current nursing theory and practices required.
  • Must be able to follow orders and work as a part of the health care team.
  • Must possess a genuine interest in geriatric care and compassion for elderly.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Must possess the ability to plan and be organized.
  • Must be comfortable speaking in front of a large group of staff-presenting/training of staff.
  • Must be flexible and be ready for change at any time.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Works indoors in well lighted and ventilated surroundings.  Sits, stands, and walks intermittently during working hours.  May be exposed to communicable diseases.  Possibility of sprains and

strains due to working at a computer for long periods of time,  moving and lifting residents.  Subject to injury and abusive behavior from residents with diminished cognitive skills, working Monday through Friday with occasional weekends.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB

Physical stamina with above average physical strength required for bending, stooping, turning, walking, sitting and inputting info in the computer. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.

 

EQUIPMENT OPERATION

Frequent use of: Equipment necessary to do client RAI assessments, computer and other office equipment.
