If you are an individual who has let their placement on the Nebraska Medication Aide Registry lapse or become inactive and you want to return to a medication aide position, Tabitha Health Care Services offers the ability to complete the required Medication Aide Competency Assessment.

Candidates must have been previously on the Nebraska Medication Aide Registry            OR

Candidates must provide proof in writing from the Nebraska Department of Health and Humans Services of their eligibility to complete the competency assessment.

*Candidates must also have a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) license. If CNA is lapsed/inactive, they must apply to take the CNA Refresher course at Tabitha. If no CNA license, candidate must also apply for Sue Hill CNA Sponsorship Class at Tabitha and work toward obtaining CNA while refreshing MA 40 hr.

The Medication Aide Refresher Session is a benefit of approximately $68 for each new TEAMember in the program. 

 

Location: All Med Aide 40 hr Refresher Sessions are held at Tabitha Health Care Services

Process for Student:

  • Selection process will include an assessment screening and in-person interview with clinical educator or manager
  • Upon selection, the student will complete program contingency pieces (background checks), sign the Educational Loan Agreement paperwork
  • Upon selection, the student will complete one - 1 hour Refresher Session and pass the Competency Assessment which includes two components: 
  • The first component is a written examination related to the 14 competencies identified in NE Statute Title 172 NAC 96, Section 005. A score of 70% is required to pass. The second component is a skills demonstration of 10 (ten) skills related to medication administration. When demonstrating a skill, candidates must perform 70% of that skills’ steps accurately and 100% of the critical steps in order to pass the skill. Candidates must pass every skill to pass the Competency Assessment. Candidates may not ask questions of the tester, and the tester may not provide assistance with the skills.

  • Once Med Aide 40 Hour is re-activated on Nebraska DHHS Registry, must apply and be hired for a Part Time or Full Time Med Aide position at Tabitha.

Program details:

Loan package of $68 includes the following:

  • $50 for Refresher Course tuition  
  • $18 for State Testing Fees

Loan forgiveness will begin upon employment as a Med Aide at Tabitha and will be fully forgiven at 90 days

 

Cancellation Policy & Refund Information:

Rescheduling the refresher course is allowed 1 time.

Qualifications

AGE REQUIREMENT:  At least age 16 for Tabitha Assisted Living Communities. At least age 18 for all other Tabitha Living Communities.

 

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
